Vietnam up in world men’s football rankings

VOV.VN - A resounding 2-0 victory over Afghanistan in a friendly match played on June 1 helped Vietnam climb one notch to 95th position in the latest rankings, according to the Football Rankings website.

Vietnam got an additional 3.46 points after the friendly, raising their cumulative total to 1,218.84 points thereby finishing 95th worldwide.

Vietnam remain the top team in the Southeast Asian region, followed by Thailand at 111th, the Philippines at 133rd, Myanmar at 152nd, Singapore at 158th, and Indonesia at 159th.

Elsewhere, Asian Number 1 Iran are ranked 21st in the world, followed by Japan at 23rd, the Republic of Korea at 29th, and Australia at 42nd.

At the top of the list are Brazil who retain the leading position with 1,838 points, followed by Belgium and France.

The world’s football governing body FIFA is to publish the global rankings on June 23.
