Vietnam U19s touch down in Thailand ahead of Bangkok Cup 2019

VOV.VN - Vietnam’s national under-19 football team departed for Thailand on October 8 ahead of their participation in the Bangkok Cup 2019, a regional under-19 football tournament which is scheduled to take place from October 10-12.

The tournament is being made up of a strong group of other teams, including the Republic of Korea (RoK), Uzbekistan, and host-nation Thailand. The competition is expected to help Vietnamese players gain more experience ahead of the 2020 AFC U19 Championship qualifiers.

Vietnam’s first fixture will be against host-nation Thailand at 7pm on October 10 at the Boonyachinda stadium. The competition’s first match will be held between Uzbekistan and the RoK at 3pm on the same day.

Following the first round, the third place play-off will take place at 3pm on October 12 at the Boonyachinda stadium. This will be followed by the final at 7pm.

Ahead of the competition, Vietnam’s U19 squad took part in a one month training camp in Hanoi to select the 24 footballers to make up the squad for the Bangkok Cup 2019.

Recently-appointed head coach Philippe Troussier is hopeful that the training camp provided him with enough time to make an accurate assessment of the quality of his team ahead of the international tournament in Thailand.
