Vietnam U19s beat Thailand 2-0 in opener of AFC Women’s Championship
VOV.VN - Vietnam’s national under-19 women’s football team beat their Thai rivals 2-0 in their first match of the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) U19 Women's Championships in Thailand on October 27.

Hosting the tie, Thailand’s U19 teams started with great determination, being proactive in attack, in contrast to the Vietnamese girls who sat back.
Starting the fixture in a 4-2-3-1 formation, the Vietnamese team deployed the tactics of head coach Ijiri Akira well, with goalkeeper Nguyen Loan putting in a great display to ensure that both teams went in a goalless at half time.
The first incident of note took place in the second half, when a penalty taken by forward Tuyet Ngan opened the scoring for the Vietnamese team in the 58th minute.
After falling behind, the Thai team pushed forward even more, putting great pressure on the Vietnamese side. Despite their constant attacks, the Vietnamese side were resolute in defence.
In added time, Van Su rounded off a counterattack to give Vietnam a 2-0 victory.
As a result of the victory, the national U19 team find themselves ranked second in Group A, behind group leaders the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea following their 5-1 demolition of Australia.
The national team’s second match of the AFC U19 Women's Championships will be against the DPRK on October 30.
