Vietnam trounce Chinese Taipei 4-0 in 2023 AFC U17 Asian Cup qualification

VOV.VN - Vietnam stunned Chinese Taipei 4-0 in their opener of the ongoing 2023 AFC U17 Asian Cup qualification on October 5.

Playing on the home turf helped Vietnamese players feel confident in producing attacks. Hoang Son opened the score in the 18th minute before his teammate Le Phat headed the ball into the back of the net, extending Vietnam’s lead.

Vietnamese players slowed their pace, making it easier for their Taiwanese opponents to produce counterattacks. The visiting team at least carved out two scoring chances but goalkeeper Bao Ngoc performed quite well to save the ball.

Hosts Vietnam scored two more goals within three minutes, from the 79th to 82nd minutes, sealing the 4-0 win in the end.

The result sent Vietnam to the top of Group F, leaving Thailand behind though Thailand defeated Nepal 3-0 on the same day.

On October 7 Vietnam are scheduled to play Nepal while Thailand will face Chinese Taipei.
