Vietnam tops World Shuttlecock Championships with seven gold medals
VOV.VN - The 2026 World Shuttlecock Championships concluded in Hagen, Germany, on August 30 (Vietnam time), with Vietnamese athletes securing seven gold, one silver, and one bronze medals to retain their overall top spot.
The tournament gathered over 150 athletes from 13 countries and territories competing across nine events. Vietnamese players reached seven finals and claimed victory in all of them.
Vietnam’s gold medals were won in men’s singles, men’s doubles, mixed doubles, men’s team, women’s team, men’s quad, and women’s quad events.
Notably, Ho Phuoc Sang from Ho Chi Minh City won the men’s singles gold medal after defeating Kevin Or of Hong Kong, China, 2-0 in the final. Additionally, Phan Thi Quynh Lien and Phung Manh Tu claimed the mixed doubles title, while Tran Anh Quan and Nguyen Duc Chi took gold in the men’s doubles.
Meanwhile, Luu Hoang Thanh Ngan lost 1-2 to Wai Ming Lo of Hong Kong, China, taking the silver medal in the women’s singles. Nguyen Thi Thu Uyen and Nguyen Thi Thuy Linh earned a bronze medal in the women’s doubles.
In the final standings, China finished second behind Vietnam with one gold, five silver, and three bronze medals. Hong Kong, China, placed third with one gold, three silver, and four bronze medals, while host country Germany finished fourth with one bronze.
