Vietnam to meet Indonesia in playoffs of Davis Cup World Group II

VOV.VN - The playoff match in the Davis Cup World Group II between Vietnam and Indonesia is scheduled to take place on February 4 and February 5 at Hanaka Paris Ocean Park in the northern province of Bac Ninh.

Currently, the Vietnamese team ranks 68th, while Indonesia is placed 62nd in the Davis Cup’s rankings.

This year has seen the nation bring a number of talented tennis players to the competition, including Ly Hoang Nam, 247th place in the ATP singles rankings and 944th place in the ATP doubles rankings, Le Quoc Khanh, 1,261st place in the ATP doubles rankings, and Pham Minh Tuan, 1,587th place in the ATP singles rankings and 1020th place in the ATP doubles rankings.

This is in addition to Nguyen Van Phuong, 1,534th place in the ATP singles rankings and 1,691st place in the ATP doubles rankings, along with Nguyen Dac Tien, 1,862nd place in the ATP singles rankings and 1,531st place in the ATP doubles rankings.

The Vietnamese players are in their best form following their various achievements in tournaments played in 2022. Based on the world singles rankings, the country remains the dominant team going into the playoff. If the team is able to make use of their strength in the singles, then they can overcome Indonesia to compete in the Davis Cup World Group II in September for the first time.

Meanwhile, Indonesia will also send several of their outstanding players to the event. Vietnam triumphed in the Asia/Oceania Group III back in 2019, although they missed out on a place in World Group II after losing 4-0 to Morocco in the play-offs back in 2020.
