Vietnam outperform Thailand, take on Malaysia in U19 friendly final

VOV.VN - Hosts Vietnam will play Malaysia in the final match of a U19 international friendly tournament after they overwhelmed Thai opponents 1-0 on August 9.

Although coach Dinh The Nam did not send in the best players, his students still performed better than their Thai opponents.

Midfielder Dinh Bac hammered home the ball in the14th minute, putting Vietnam ahead. The scoring advantage helped hosts play more excitedly.

Dinh Bac, Van Truong and Gian Tan subsequently challenged the Thai goalkeeper, but they all failed.

In the last minutes of the first half, Thai players flexed their muscles by producing counterattacks but they could not defeat goalkeeper Ho Tung Han.

After the interval, the visiting team got off to a good start, and like in the first half they could not break the Vietnamese defence line in the penalty area.

Minutes later, Vietnamese player regained their strength with lightning attacks hoping to extend the lead.

Meanwhile, Thai players also tried to push up the squad to find an equalizer, but they all missed the scoring chances.

Winning over Thailand, Vietnam will take on Malaysia that beat Myanmar 2-0 o the same day. Thailand will play Myanmar to vie for third place.

Both matches will take place on August 11.

The U19 international friendly tournament sponsored by Thanh Nien (Youth newspaper) has attracted four teams: Thailand, Malaysia Myanmar and hosts Vietnam.
