Vietnam finish runners-up at SEA Girls' U18 Volleyball Championship

The championship match, played at Terminal Hall inside Terminal 21 shopping mall, saw the home side deliver a composed performance. Although Vietnam fought hard and kept the contest close throughout, particularly in the second set, Thailand capitalised on key moments to secure a straight-set victory, 25-23, 29-27, 25-22.

Vietnam made a confident start, matching Thailand point for point in the opening set. However, the hosts proved more composed in the closing stages, edging the set 25-23.

The second set was the most dramatic of the match, with both teams exchanging points in a tense contest that extended to 27-27. Thailand ultimately held their nerve in the decisive rallies to claim the set 29-27, taking a commanding 2-0 lead.

Vietnam continued to battle in the third set but struggled to cope with Thailand's sustained pressure. The hosts closed out the set 25-22 to complete a 3-0 victory and successfully defend their Princess Cup title.

With the win, Thailand claimed their second consecutive Princess Cup championship, reinforcing their status as the region's leading youth women's volleyball team.

Although they fell short of the title, Vietnam's run to the final marked an encouraging campaign. The young squad showed determination throughout the tournament against higher-ranked opposition and came within two points of forcing the match in the closely contested second set.

In the third-place playoff, the Philippines defeated Indonesia in a five-set thriller, 27-25, 27-29, 18-25, 25-22, 15-11, to secure the bronze medal.
