Vietnam enjoy routine 2-0 win over Russia in international U15 tournament
VOV.VN - The Vietnamese U15 national football team inflicted a 2-0 defeat on their Russian rivals on August 26 in the Acecook Cup 2019, an international U15 football tournament which is underway in Vung Tau city.
As tournament hosts, Vietnam displayed confidence throughout their first match of the tournament.
Despite creating an array of chances during the first half, both teams went in goalless at half time.
The second half saw Vietnamese head coach Dinh The Nam make a tactical change, bringing on forward Cai Van Quy.
The substitution paid off in the 54th minute when striker Cai Van Quy took advantage of an error in the Russian defence to put Vietnam 1-0 up.
Thirteen minutes later striker Van Quy doubled the lead by scoring another. The game eventually finished 2-0 in favour of Vietnam.
As a result of the win, the Vietnamese team won three points from their opening match. They will next take on Myanmar at 4:30 pm on August 28.
Before Vietnam’s win, the Republic of Korea’s U15s easily beat Myanmar 6-1 and are currently topping the group.
