Vietnam earns two spots for 2026 Karate World Cup
VOV.VN - Vietnam has secured two official spots in men’s team kata and women’s team kumite for the 2026 Karate World Cup following its performances at the Asian Senior Karate Championship 2026.
The World Karate Federation has announced the 20 national teams that have qualified for the kata and kumite team events at the tournament. Vietnam earned qualification in two categories: men’s team kata and women’s team kumite.
At the Asian Senior Karate Championship 2026, which recently concluded in Indonesia, Vietnam’s men’s team kata squad won bronze, while Vietnam’s women’s kumite squad also claimed bronze. The 2026 Karate World Cup, regarded as the world championship for team events organized by the World Karate Federation, will take place in China from November 20 to 22.
In women’s team kumite, Vietnam joins Iran, Indonesia, Japan and China as Asia’s representatives. In men’s team kata, Vietnam will compete alongside Kuwait, Chinese Taipei, Japan and China from Asia.
Vietnam first secured qualification for the Karate World Cup in 2024, when its women’s team kumite squad made its debut at the tournament. Karate is currently one of Vietnam’s key sports as it continues preparations for upcoming Asian Games competition.
