Vietnam cruise into SEA Girls' U18 Volleyball Championship final

VOV.VN - Vietnam secured a place in the final of the 2026 Southeast Asian Girls' U18 Volleyball Championship (Princess Cup 2026) after edging Indonesia 3-2 in a gripping semifinal on June 27.

After splitting the opening four sets, Vietnam held their nerve in the decisive fifth set to seal a 15-10 victory and book a place in the championship match.

Indonesia proved to be Vietnam's toughest opponents of the tournament as coach Nguyen Thi Ngoc Hoa’s team cruised through the group stage without dropping a set.

Vietnam claimed the opening set 25-21, but Indonesia responded by taking the second by the same score to level the match.

The two teams continued to trade blows, with Vietnam winning the third set 25-22 before Indonesia forced a deciding set by taking the fourth 25-22.

Vietnam made the stronger start in the fifth set, opening an 8-4 lead at the change of ends. Although Indonesia mounted a determined comeback, Vietnam maintained their composure to close out the match 15-10.

The victory extends Vietnam's impressive run at the regional tournament and highlights the young squad's resilience under pressure.

Vietnam will face Thailand who defeated the Philippines 3-1 in another semi-final game on June 27.

The Southeast Asian Girls' U18 Volleyball Championship, also known as the Princess Cup, is taking place in Thailand from June 22 to 28.

In addition to Southeast Asian teams Thailand, Vietnam, Indonesia, Malaysia and the Philippines, this year's tournament also features Australia, Kyrgyzstan and Hong Kong (China).
