Vietnam claims 11 golds as all nine swimmers win titles

Do Ngoc Vinh, Nguyen Kha Nhi and Le Huynh Tu Uyen led Vietnam’s medal haul with three gold medals each, combining individual titles with a mixed relay victory.

Ngoc Vinh and Kha Nhi won individual golds in the men's 10km and the women's 10km in the 18–19 age group on the opening day, while Tu Uyen also finished first in the women's 10km in the 16–17 age group.

The three later joined Cao Van Dung to win the senior mixed 4x1,500m relay, and Vietnam’s younger swimmers also claimed the corresponding age-group relay title.

On the final competition day, Ngoc Vinh dominated long-distance race by winning gold in the men's 5km race. Kha Nhi and Tu Uyen both took gold medal in the women’s 5km.

Meanwhile, young Vietnamese swimmers also flexed their muscle in the tournament. In the mixed 4x1,500m relay for the 14–18 age group, the quartet of Nguyen Vinh Thai Bao, Vo Thi Bao Ngoc, Phan Thi Thuy An, and Tran Gia Phuc bagged gold, trailing behind their opponents from Thailand and Singapore.

Tran Gia Bao took the lead in the men’s 5km, while Nguyen Vinh Thai Bao topped the position in the men’s 5km. The final gold medal went to Pham Duc Trong as he came first in the junior boys’ 3km.

Their performances gave the Vietnamese team an additional positive signal beyond its senior results, showing that younger swimmers are gaining experience and competing successfully at regional level.

The fourth Southeast Asian Open Water Swimming Championships was held in Boracay, the Philippines, from August 21 to 23, bringing together athletes from Vietnam, Thailand, Indonesia, Singapore and the Philippines.
