Vietnam announces 16-player squad for 2021 Futsal World Cup finals
VOV.VN - Head coach Pham Minh Giang confirmed the final 16-man squad for the upcoming FIFA Futsal World Cup 2021 in Lithuania.
Due to the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic, each team is being permitted to register a total of 16 official footballers instead of a maximum of 14 players as in previous Futsal World Cup.
Among the 17 players taking part in the training course in Spain, only Ly Dang Hung has been dropped from the final the list.
The Vietnamese futsal players departed Spain on September 5 and they’re currently in Lithuania ahead of the 2021 World Cup.
On September 6 they lost 2-1 to Morocco in a friendly match to prepare for the global competition.
In the finals of the 2021 FIFA Futsal World Cup, Vietnam have been drawn in Group D alongside world champions Brazil, the Czech Republic, and Panama.
They are scheduled to take on Brazil on September 13, Panama on September 16, and the Czech Republic three days later.
This will be the second time that Vietnam has competed in the FIFA Futsal World Cup. In their first participation in the global competition in Colombia five years ago, the nation made history after making it into quarter finals.
