VFF Vice President named as member of AFF Emergency Committee

VOV.VN - Tran Quoc Tuan, vice president of the Vietnam Football Federation (VFF), has been appointed as a member of the Asian Football Federation (AFF) Emergency Committee.

The committee consists of a total of five members, with the head of the Committee being Khiev Sameth, president of AFF, who will make decisions related to issues which arise during the organising process of the AFF Cup 2020.

This comes after Tuan was also appointed as Chairman of the Competitions Committee of the Asian Football Confederation (AFC). This marked the first time that a Vietnamese representative took on the top position of the AFC Competitions Committee, which holds a major influence on the organisation and development of continental football tournaments.

The AFF Cup is the largest Southeast Asian football tournament, and is scheduled to take place from December 5 to January 1, 2022, in Singapore.

Vietnam will go into the competition as the defending champions and will play in Group B alongside Malaysia, Indonesia, Cambodia, and Laos.

Elsewhere, Group A consists of Thailand, Myanmar, the Philippines, Singapore, and the winner of the play-off match between Timor-Leste and Brunei.
