U23 Vietnam cruise past Laos 3-0 in ASEAN Mandiri Cup™ 2025 opener
VOV.VN - U23 Vietnam made a strong start to the 2025 ASEAN U23 Championship (Mandiri Cup™) with a commanding 3-0 win over Laos on July 19 at Patriot Stadium in Bekasi, Indonesia.

From the opening whistle, the Vietnamese side took control of the game, launching repeated attacks, primarily down the left wing, where Phi Hoang and Khuat Van Khang combined effectively. Their pressure paid off in the 19th minute when Van Khang finished a precise first-time strike from a left-flank cross to open the scoring.
Vietnam maintained their dominance into the second half. In the 71st minute, defender Hieu Minh doubled the lead with a towering header from a corner on the left. Thirteen minutes later, he completed his brace, capitalizing on a goalmouth scramble to seal a 3-0 victory.
Throughout the match, head coach Kim Sang-sik’s men dictated possession and created the clearer chances, while Laos offered little threat going forward. The result puts Vietnam in a strong position for the rest of the group stage.
