U18 women's volleyball team set for two int’l tournaments in Thailand
VOV.VN - After completing an intensive training camp in Bac Ninh Province, the Vietnam U18 women’s volleyball team are entering the final stage of preparation ahead of two major international tournaments in Thailand.
Young Vietnamese players are scheduled to depart for Thailand on June 21, launching their most important international campaign of the year at both regional and continental levels.
According to the competition schedule, head coach Le Thi Hien and her players will compete at the 2026 Southeast Asian Women's U18 Volleyball Championship from June 23-28 before taking part in the AVC Girls' U18 Volleyball Championship from July 1-7.
In recent weeks, the players have maintained a rigorous training programme in Bac Ninh province, focusing on technical improvement, tactical development and team cohesion.
Coach Le Thi Hien said the players are in good spirits and are working hard to ensure the best possible preparation for the upcoming tournaments.
The current training roster includes 20 young athletes selected from leading volleyball clubs across Vietnam. The coaching staff will finalise the squad and reduce the list to 14 players before departure.
Among the two competitions, the AVC Girls' U18 Volleyball Championship is expected to present the toughest test for the Vietnamese team.
According to the draw conducted by the Asian Volleyball Confederation (AVC), Vietnam have been placed in Pool D alongside the Republic of Korea, Chinese Taipei and India.
The group is considered highly competitive, requiring Vietnam’s young players to maintain consistency and deliver strong performances if they hope to advance to the knockout stages.
Meanwhile, the Southeast Asian championship will provide an important opportunity for the team to assess its squad, gain international experience and fine-tune preparations before the continental competition.
On June 9, leaders of the Vietnam Volleyball Federation visited the team in Bac Ninh to encourage the players ahead of the two international competitions.
