U18 women’s volleyball team reach semifinals after three straight wins

VOV.VN - Vietnam U18 women’s volleyball team maintained its strong form with another group-stage win at the Southeast Asian Girls’ U18 Volleyball Championship in Thailand, finishing top of Group B with a perfect record and securing a place in the semifinals.

In their final Group B match on June 25, Vietnam defeated Malaysia 3-0. Playing with confidence after winning their first two matches, the Vietnamese side delivered a composed performance and controlled the match throughout.

Coach Nguyen Thi Ngoc Hoa’s team claimed a comfortable 25-9 victory in the opening set before taking the next two sets 25-15 and 25-12 to seal a straight-set win.

Vietnam completed the group stage with three consecutive 3-0 wins over Kyrgyzstan, the Philippines and Malaysia, securing top spot in Group B and advancing to the semifinals.

Before the tournament, the coaching staff had targeted a semifinal berth while focusing on helping the players gain experience. Vietnam’s unbeaten run in the group stage has led many observers to believe the team is likely to reach the final, with the tournament running through June 28.
