U18 women open regional volleyball tournament with dominant win over Kyrgyzstan
VOV.VN - Vietnam U18 women’s volleyball team made a strong start at the 2026 Southeast Asian Girls’ U18 Volleyball Championship in Thailand on June 23, with a straight-set victory over Kyrgyzstan.
In their opening Group B match, coach Ngoc Hoa’s side controlled the game from the outset to secure a comfortable 3-0 win.
Vietnam took the first set 25-11 with a commanding performance. The team was even stronger in the second set, with Anh Thao and her teammates cruising to a 25-5 victory.
Kyrgyzstan put up a stronger fight in the third set, but Vietnam remained in control to close it out 25-15 and complete the win. The tournament features eight teams divided into two groups.
Vietnam are in Group B alongside Kyrgyzstan, the Philippines and Malaysia. Group A consists of hosts Thailand, Australia, Hong Kong (China) and Indonesia.
Following the opening win, Vietnam will next face the Philippines on June 24 and Malaysia on June 25. The top two teams from each group will advance to the semifinals.
