U18 Vietnam seal quarterfinal berth at Asian volleyball championship with win over India
VOV.VN - Vietnam women's national under-18 volleyball team secured a place in the quarterfinals of the 2026 AVC Girls’ U18 Volleyball Championship after defeating India women's national under-18 volleyball team in straight sets in Thailand on July 3.
Vietnam faced India in their final Group D match and delivered a dominant performance to win 3-0 with scores of 25-6, 25-11 and 25-19.
After losing to the Republic of Korea (RoK) a day earlier, Vietnam returned with better rhythm and stronger execution. India struggled to deal with Vietnam’s attacking plays, allowing the Vietnamese side to build confidence throughout the match.
The victory guarantees the national team a top-two finish in Group D and secures a quarterfinal berth. The top two teams from each group advance to the quarterfinals.
Vietnam finished the group stage with two wins, against Chinese Taipei women's national under-18 volleyball team and India, and one loss to RoK.
The tournament hosted by the Asian Volleyball Confederation (AVC) from July 1 to 7 features 16 teams divided into four groups. The top four finishers will progress through to the 2027 FIVB Volleyball Girls' U19 World Championship.
