Southeast Asian Pencak Silat Championship slated for September in Vietnam
VOV.VN - Vietnam will host the 2026 Southeast Asian Pencak Silat Championship in Ho Chi Minh City from September 22 to 29, with competitions scheduled to take place at the Rach Mieu Sports Complex.
The tournament organized by the Sports Authority of Vietnam and supported by the International Pencak Silat Federation (PERSILAT) will take place in Rach Mieu sports complex in Ho Chi Minh City from September 22 to 29.
The championship will feature 20 official weight categories - nine for women, ranging from 45kg to 85kg, and 11 for men, ranging from 45kg to 95kg.
The tournament will also include two open-weight categories for both men and women. In the men's competition, Open 1 will be contested by athletes weighing under 110kg, while Open 2 will be for those weighing over 110kg. For women, Open 1 will be for athletes under 100kg and Open 2 for those over 100kg.
In addition, competitors will take part in four Seni divisions for both men and women.
The 2025 edition saw Vietnam finish second overall with three gold, three silver and four bronze medals. The country's gold medals were bagged by athletes in the men's 45kg, men's 60kg, and men's 65kg categories.
Most recently, Vietnam hosted the 2026 Asian Pencak Silat Championship in July in Dong Nai City where local athletes topped the medal standings with 16 gold medals.

VOV.VN -The 10th Asian Pencak Silat Championship 2026 officially opened on July 17 in Dong Nai city in southern Vietnam, with the participation of nearly 300 athletes and coaches from nine countries and territories.
