SEA Games champions to compete at 2026 Asian U23 Athletics Championships
VOV.VN - Vietnam’s athletics team will send nine athletes to compete for medals at the 2026 Asian U23 Athletics Championships in China, with the squad set to depart on July 6.
Among the standout athletes is Ho Trong Manh Hung, who won gold in the men’s triple jump at the 33rd SEA Games in 2025 with a mark of 16.33 metres. The tournament will mark his return to international competition after more than six months of training.
Also competing is Ta Ngoc Tuong, Vietnam’s leading men’s 400m runner, who recently won gold in the men’s 4x400m relay at the 2026 Asian Relay Championships.
The coaching staff said the tournament will provide Ta with another valuable opportunity to gain further competitive experience. At the 33rd SEA Games, he won gold in the mixed 4x400m relay and silver in the men’s 400m, where his time of 45.53 seconds set a new national record.
Vietnam will also field several female athletes with strong credentials at the tournament.
The 2026 Asian U23 Athletics Championships will feature the participation of some of Asia’s top young athletes, with competition scheduled from July 9 to 12 in China.
