SEA Games 32: U22 Vietnam cruise into semi-finals

VOV.VN - Van Tung scored twice to help U22 Vietnam beat U22 Malaysia 2-1 in a Group B match on May 8 evening, thereby progressing to the semi-finals at the ongoing 32nd Southeast Asian Games (SEA Games 32).

Coach Philippe Troussier’s players were awarded a penalty in the fourth minute and Van Tung scored the first goal after his second touch from the spot.

It’s Tung again who extended Vietnam’s lead with a header 22 minutes later.

Seven minutes before the end of the first half, goalkeeper Van Chuan made a mistake, letting Aiman Arif earn a goal for Malaysia.

After the break, U22 Malaysia carved out a number of scoring chances but their players did not succeed. Even two of their players were sent out due to their fouls with Vietnamese players.

However, U22 Vietnam could not take this advantage till the end of the match.

The 2-1 win helped U22 Vietnam enter the semi-finals though they have another Group B match against U22 Thailand.

U22 Thailand also stormed into the semi-finals after they stunned their Lao opponents 4-1 in another Group B match the same day.
