SEA Games 31 to be wrapped up in Hanoi today

VOV.VN - The 31st Southeast Asian Games themed ‘For A Stronger Southeast Asia’ is scheduled to be wrapped up in Hanoi on May 23 evening after more than ten days of competition.

The closing ceremony themed ‘Gather to Shine’ will be divided into three parts that highlight the community solidarity and cooperation, as well as efforts to shine by all Southeast Asian countries.

Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Nguyen Van Hung is expected to deliver a speech to review major achievements of the regional largest sporting event.

The Southeast Asian Games Federation will hand over the SEA Games flag to Cambodia that is set to play host to the next games in 2023.

SEA Games 31 is taking place in Hanoi and 11 neighbouring localities from May 12-23, with regional athletes competing in 40 sports.

As of May 22, Vietnam bagged 205 golds, 125 silvers and 116 bronzes, leading the medal count. Thailand and Indonesia finished second and third on the medal table, clinching 92 and 69 golds respectively.
