RoK beat Vietnam at AVC Girls’ U18 Volleyball Championship

VOV.VN - Vietnam suffered a 3-0 defeat to the Republic of Korea in their second Group D match at the 2026 Girls’ U18 Volleyball Championship of the Asian Volleyball Confederation (AVC) in Thailand on July 2, ending their winning start to the tournament.

One of the favourites in the group, the RoK controlled the match with their fast-paced attack and solid defence, winning 25-18, 25-13, 25-20 to secure a straight-sets victory.

Vietnam struggled to cope with the Koreans' intensity in the opening two sets, particularly in serve reception and defensive organisation. The team showed greater determination in the third set, briefly taking a 6-4 lead before their opponents regained control and closed out the match.

The defeat leaves Vietnam needing a positive result against India on July 3 to keep their hopes of reaching the quarter-finals alive.

Earlier on July 1 Vietnam got off to a good start at the tournament, securing their 3-0 win over Chinese Taipei in their Group D opener.

The 2026 AVC Girls’ U18 Volleyball Championship, being held in Thailand from July 1 to 7, features 16 teams, with the top four finishers qualifying for the 2027 FIVB Volleyball Girls' U19 World Championship.
