VOV.VN - The 3rd Quang Ninh GM/IM/FM Chess Tournament 2025 is taking place from June 23 to July 7 at the provincial planning, fair, and exhibition palace, gathering more than 140 players from 21 countries and territories.
Co-organized by the Vietnam Chess Federation and Quang Ninh’s Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, the tournament is further cementing its position as one of Vietnam’s largest international chess competitions.
According to organizers, the tournament features nine Grandmasters, 15 International Masters, 15 FIDE Masters and nine Candidate Masters.
Players are competing in two categories: standard chess and blitz chess. The tournament includes 10 standard rounds and nine blitz rounds. Among the Vietnamese participants are several notable young players, including Dau Khuong Duy, Banh Gia Huy, Dinh Nho Kiet, Pham Tran Gia Phuc and Dang Hoang Son.
With strong international participation and a high-level field, the tournament is expected to further raise professional standards while promoting chess development and international sports exchanges in Vietnam.
Results will be submitted to the International Chess Federation (FIDE) for title norm evaluation and Elo rating updates in August 2026.
The tournament’s annual organization not only creates competitive opportunities for domestic players but also contributes to establishing Quang Ninh as a familiar destination for the international chess community.
