One gold medal for Vietnam at Asian Junior Bowling Championships
VOV.VN - Vietnam’s Tran Hoang Khoi has won the boys’ singles title at the 25th Asian Junior Bowling Championships, adding a continental gold medal to the SEA Games title he claimed in 2025.
The 16-year-old topped the boys’ singles standings at the championships in Jakarta, Indonesia, on August 24, scoring 1,433 pins over six games. Dylan Lam ò Hong Kong (China) finished second with 1,376, while Ahmed Adel Al Darwish of Qatar took bronze with 1,359.
Khoi started off brilliantly with 289, ten pins ahead of Jovi Mak Ka Yin of Hong Kong (China). The Vietnamese athlete added 225 and 247 in his next two games to continue to lead the pack. Dylan Lam of Hong Kong (China) moved into the second position after a superb 288 in his fourth game.
But Khoi extended his lead after shooting a splendid 277 in the fifth game and despite ending with a moderate 182, his six-game total of 1433 was good enough to win the gold medal. Dylan Lam came second for the silver with 1376.
Born in 2009, Tran Hoang Khoi took up bowling at an early age and quickly demonstrated his talent. In 2022, Khoi, 12, won the Thailand Open U13 Championship. In December 2025, he won the gold medal in the men's singles at the 33rd Southeast Asian Games (SEA Games 33).
The 25th Asian Junior Bowling Championships began on August 21 and it will last through to August 30. The tournament gathers 125 young athletes from 15 member states of the Asian Bowling Federation.
