Nguyen Thuy Linh named Vietnam's sole representative at VICTOR China Open
VOV.VN - Vietnamese shuttler Nguyen Thuy Linh will be Vietnam's sole representative in the women's singles event at the VICTOR China Open 2026 after the tournament released its entry list.
The tournament will take place from July 21 to 26 and is part of the BWF World Tour Super 1000 series. As one of the highest-tier events on the circuit, it is expected to attract many of the world's leading players.
Nguyen Thuy Linh recently played in tournaments in Malaysia, Singapore and Indonesia. At the Indonesia Open 2026, also a BWF World Tour Super 1000 event, she exited in the opening round of the women's singles draw.
According to the latest rankings released by the Badminton World Federation (BWF), Thuy Linh is currently ranked 25th in the world in women's singles. Her position was unchanged as she has not competed internationally in recent months. She is aiming to return to the world's top 20 this year.
Thuy Linh is currently training with Vietnam's national badminton team at Bac Ninh University of Physical Education and Sports. The Vietnam Badminton Federation said the Democratic People's Republic of Korea's national badminton team is also holding a training camp in Bac Ninh from June 5 to 21, giving Vietnamese players additional opportunities for joint training and practice matches.
Last week, the BWF confirmed that eight Vietnamese players, including Thuy Linh, had secured direct qualification for the 2026 BWF World Championships, which will be held in India in August.
