National Youth Chess Championships kicks off in Vung Tau
VOV.VN - More than 1,000 players aged six to 20 are participating in the 2022 National Youth Chess Championships, which officially opened on June 8 in Vung Tau in the southern coastal province of Ba Ria-Vung Tau.
The prestigious event attracted the participation of 1,031 youth chess players from 43 teams nationwide.
Playing under the Swiss system, the competition includes both men’s and women’s singles, as well as team events in the standard, rapid, blitz, and traditional chess categories.
The annual tournament provides the ideal opportunity for the national youth team to scout outstanding players in preparation for upcoming domestic and global competitions. It also aims to promote the sport among juniors and students whilst giving them a platform to find suitable competition.
The championships are scheduled to last until June 18.
