My Dinh Stadium chosen as Vietnam’s home venue for ASEAN Cup 2026
VOV.VN - Hanoi-based My Dinh National Stadium has been selected as the home venue for Vietnam’s national football team during the ASEAN Cup 2026, formerly known as the AFF Championship or AFF Cup.
The Vietnam Football Federation (VFF) held a working session on June 4 with the management board of the My Dinh National Sports Complex and reached a preliminary agreement to lease My Dinh Stadium for Vietnam’s home matches at the regional tournament.
Ahead of the competition, the ASEAN Football Federation (AFF) is expected to conduct an inspection of the stadium to ensure it meets hosting requirements.
In the group stage, Vietnam will play two matches at My Dinh Stadium against Singapore on July 31 and Cambodia on August 7. If they reach the semi-finals and finals, the Vietnamese team will still play at My Dinh Stadium.
This is a significant change in Vietnam's journey to defend their Southeast Asian championship title. In the 2024 edition, Vietnam played their home matches at Viet Tri Stadium in Phu Tho province which has a smaller capacity than My Dinh Stadium.
Regarding the Vietnamese national team, coach Kim Sang-sik and his coaching board have made a list and expected to finalise it the following week before a planned training camp in the Republic of Korea (RoK) later this month ahead of ASEAN Cup 2026.
During the training camp, Vietnam are expected to play friendly matches against local clubs through coach Kim’s connections rather than FIFA-ranking international fixtures.
