Minh to play main round at tourney
Nguyen Tien Minh will start from the main round of the Yonex German Open badminton tournament this morning, local time.
The Vietnamese will play Joachim Persson of Denmark in the men's singles event. Minh won their two previous matches in 2007 and 2010.
His teammates, however, will need to work hard from the qualification rounds.
On March 1, Do Tuan Duc and Pham Nhu Thao defeated Ruben Jille and Iris Tabeling of the Netherlands 21-8, 21-13, 21-18 in the first round match of the mixed doubles event. They will play Marvin Emil Seidel and Linda Efler next.

Duc and Pham Hong Nam beat Alen Roj and Iztok Utrosa from Slovenia 21-15, 21-14 in the men's doubles pool.
In the women's event, Vu Thi Trang could not fend off Aya Ohori of Japan and lost 19-21, 21-18, 12-21.
Thao and Le Thu Huyen were beaten 23-25, 18-21, 17-21 by Julie Finne-Ipsen and Rikke Soby Hansen of Denmark in the women's doubles.
The tournament will close on March 6.
