Ly Son to host second Open Paragliding Championship
VOV.VN - Approximately 50 paragliders from clubs based both domestically and internationally have registered to compete in the Open Paragliding Championship on Ly Son Island off the coast of Quang Ngai province.
The competition will be the second of its kind and is scheduled to take place from May 20 to May 24.
According to details given by Nguyen Tien Dung, director of the provincial Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, pilots will take off from a point on Thoi Loi mountain which sits 170 metres above sea level before landing on the 500-square-metre area.
The primary purpose of the event is to improve the movement of physical training, as well as contributing to recovering tourism on Ly Son island in particular, as well as in Quang Ngai province in general. This comes following a local period of being heavily affected by the COVID-19 pandemic.
The first Open Paragliding Championship was held back in June, 2019, featuring the participation of 126 paragliders from 16 clubs from Vietnam, the UK, Thailand, Australia, Laos, Indonesia, Singapore, and Malaysia.
