Local dancers strike gold at Malaysia Open DanceSport Championship
VOV.VN - Vietnamese dancers have won multiple gold medals at the Malaysia Open DanceSport Championship 2026 organised by the World DanceSport Federation (WDSF) held in Malaysia from July 23 to 26.
The tournament, part of the official competition calendar of the World DanceSport Federation, attracted around 360 athletes from 22 countries and territories competing in Standard, Latin, Solo and Professional Division events across various age groups.
One of Vietnam's standout performances came in the WDSF Open Youth Latin category, where duo Pham Minh Thanh and Nguyen Linh Anh captured the gold medal after overcoming a highly competitive field featuring many of the region's top junior couples. The event is regarded as one of the key ranking tournaments for young athletes seeking valuable points in the WDSF international standings.
Vietnam also enjoyed remarkable success in the rapidly developing Solo Latin discipline. The pair of Nguyen Canh Thang and Nguyen Tu Phuong secured two gold medals, while Nguyen Canh Toan and Nguyen Thu Ha also claimed two gold medals, underlining the depth of Vietnam's emerging young talent in individual Latin competition.
Beyond youth events, the championship featured several major international competitions, including the International Open Adult Standard, International Open Adult Latin, Asian Ten Dance Championship, and Southeast Asian Solo Latin Championship, bringing together many of Asia's leading DanceSport athletes.
The results in Malaysia extend an impressive run of performances for Vietnamese DanceSport throughout 2026 and reflect the country's sustained investment in developing young athletes.
