Liem, Son receive cash prizes as FIDE Grand Swiss concludes
VOV.VN -Talented Vietnamese chess players Le Quang Liem and Nguyen Ngoc Truong Son recorded impressive results at the FIDE Grand Swiss chess tournament, which wrapped up in England on October 22.

As a result, Liem finished the tournament in 13th place with seven points, receiving a cash prize of US$8,000 in the process. In addition, the nation’s top chess player also added 1.9 Elo points to his rating during the course of the competition.

Elsewhere, Truong Son, Elo rating 2638, tied with Matlakov Maxim of Russia, Elo rating 2716, after 46 moves.
After recording 6.5 points from 11 matches, Son finished the tournament ranked 30th. For his efforts, he was granted a cash prize of US$2,000 and added 6.5 Elo points to his rating.
The competition’s overall winner was Wang Hao of China, who brought home a cash prize of US$70,000.
