Liem loses to Indian prodigy at Oslo Esports Cup
VOV.VN - Following an impressive win against reigning world number one Magnus Carlsen, Vietnamese grandmaster Le Quang Liem suffered an unfortunate loss to Indian prodigy Praggnanandhaa on Day 3 of the Oslo Esports Cup.
At the match held on the morning of April 25, Praggnanandhaa held the Vietnamese grandmaster to a draw in the first set before winning the second set after 93 moves after gaining an advantage by holding the white pawn.
In the third set, Liem was still defeated by the 16-year-old Indian prodigy in 54 moves, despite holding the black pieces.
With a final score of 0.5-2.5 in the match, Praggnanandhaa enjoyed three consecutive wins and duly topped the rankings with nine points, while Liem temporarily ranked fifth place with two points.
Moving forward, the Vietnamese chess player will next face off against Eric Hansen of Canada.
