Iran, Palestine U20 squads arrive in Phu Tho for AFC Asian Cup qualifiers
VOV.VN - The U20 national football teams of Iran and Palestine arrived in Vietnam’s northern province of Phu Tho on August 29 morning to prepare for Group C of the 2027 AFC U20 Asian Cup qualifiers.
The qualification matches will be held at Viet Tri Stadium from August 31 to September 6.
Despite a lengthy journey, the Iranian squad displayed high spirits upon arrival. Iran are regarded as strong contenders for the top spot in Group C, backed by a strong football tradition and elite continental standing.
Head coach Ghasem Haddadifar's side began preparations in early July, completing a training session in Turkey with eight friendlies to fine-tune the roster. Prior to landing in Vietnam, Iran wrapped up a two-week camp in Thailand, beating the hosts and drawing with Iraq.
Palestine U20 also stand out with a squad featuring numerous overseas-trained players, notably several talents currently playing for youth teams in Germany.
North Korea U20 are expected to reach Phu Tho on August 29 evening, ahead of the pre-tournament press conference set for the following day.
