Huu Hieu wins third IFMA Muay world title with knockout victory

The championship, held from June 16 to 26, brought together national teams from around the world and is the premier amateur Muay competition organised by the International Federation of Muaythai Associations (IFMA), which is recognised by the International Olympic Committee (IOC).

Facing the experienced Turkish fighter in the final, Huu Hieu took control from the opening bell, pressing forward with sharp combinations and precise kicks.

Relying on her speed, footwork and relentless attacking style, the Vietnamese fighter kept Ercin under constant pressure before finishing the bout with a knockout victory to complete an unbeaten run through the tournament.

The gold medal in Kuala Lumpur extends Huu Hieu's remarkable record on the international stage. After winning the women's under-45kg world title in 2024, the 1999-born fighter has now claimed three consecutive IFMA world championships, cementing her status as one of Vietnam's leading Muay athletes.

Nicknamed Oc Tieu ("Little Pepper") by Vietnamese fans, Huu Hieu has built her reputation not on physical size but on explosive speed, technical precision and fearless determination.

Her aggressive fighting style and ability to deliver accurate strikes have helped her defeat some of the sport's top competitors at major international tournaments.
