Hoang Nam continues to fly high in ATP rankings

VOV.VN - The nation’s leading tennis player Ly Hoang Nam rose to No.239 in the world according to the latest Association of Tennis Professionals (ATP) rankings, marking a new milestone in his career.

This climb can be attributed to his victory in the men’s singles of the M25 Tay Ninh tournament in which he gained an additional 25 points, accumulating a total of 220 points in the ATP rankings.

This year represents the most successful period of Nam's career so far after rising to No.239 from No.589 since March. This represents the highest ranking ever achieved by a player from Southeast Asia (SEA) and Vietnam.

In order to achieve this impressive feat, Nam has won five championship titles of the International Tennis Federation (ITF) Men's World Tennis Tour M15 and M25 competitions. The Vietnamese player also successfully defended his singles title at the SEA Games 31, whilst also contributing to helping the country win a place in the 2022 Davis Cup World Group II playoffs.

At present, Nam is currently working hard to earn a ticket for the qualifying round of the Australia Open 2023. Alongside his coach Tran Quoc Phong, he is in the process of preparing to attend the M25 Jakarta Tournament 2022 which will run from October 24 to October 30.

Following this, he will then fly out to Japan in order to take part in three ATP Challenger 80 tournaments in Matsuyama, Kobe, and Yokkaichi from November 7 to November 27.
