VOV.VN - Grandmaster Le Tuan Minh extended his spectacular form by capturing the championship at the 3+0 Thursday online blitz tournament on Chess.com on August 20.
Having just claimed a gold medal at the 2026 ASEAN+ Age-Group Chess Championships and finished first at Titled Tuesday days earlier, the 1996-born Grandmaster delivered another undefeated campaign through 11 rounds of competition.
Le Tuan Minh concluded the tournament with eight wins and three draws, accumulating 9.5 points. He tied on points with Grandmaster Alexey Sarana but secured the top spot on tie-break indicators.
A key highlight of the Vietnamese player's championship run was overcoming a lineup of elite grandmasters. Notably, he defeated Nodirbek Yakubboev, a rising star ranked in FIDE's top 8, in Round 7, before topping US grandmaster and world No. 3 blitz powerhouse Hikaru Nakamura in Round 8.
With this championship title, Grandmaster Le Tuan Minh earned a US$400 cash prize.
Organized weekly by Chess.com, the world’s largest online chess platform, the 3+0 Thursday event is held across three different time slots to accommodate global participants. Each session features a US$1,000 prize fund out of a total weekly pool of US$3,000, with the winner earning US$400, while the second and third-place finishers take home US$250 and US$150, respectively.
