Futsal HDBank National Cup 2021 cancelled due to COVID-19
VOV.VN - The Vietnam Football Federation (VFF) has decided to officially cancel the Futsal HDBank National Cup 2021 as a result of the complicated developments relating to the COVID-19 pandemic locally.
The tournament had previously been scheduled to take place from December 7 to December 22 at Thai Son Nam Arena in District 8 of Ho Chi Minh City.
However, the ongoing second leg of the National Futsal HDBank Championship 2021 saw roughly 11 people, including head coach of Sahako club Nguyen Tuan Anh, nine futsal players, and one staff member, found to be infected with COVID-19.
Due to the spread of the virus and to ensure the safety of all players and members of the coaching staff, the Futsal HDBank National Cup 2021 has been officially cancelled.
Moving forward, the futsal players will only play the remaining rounds of the second leg of the National Futsal HDBank Championship 2021, with the event being concluded on December 5.
This year marks the fifth year that VOV, the VFF, and sponsor HDBank have collaborated for the purpose of organising the national futsal tournament.
The primary aim of the competition is to uncover local talents who are able to compete in upcoming international tournaments, including the 31st Southeast Asian (SEA) Games which will take place next year in Hanoi.
