Four players of national women’s football team positive for COVID-19

VOV.VN - Four footballers on the Vietnamese women’s national football team have contracted the SARS-CoV-2 virus during their training camp in Spain, as announced by the Vietnam Football Federation (VFF).

Furthermore, one of the team’s doctors has also been infected with COVID-19, with all five cases currently self-isolating and monitoring their health.

Members of the national squad conducted the RT-PCR method on January 10 after their rivals in a recent friendly match were confirmed positive for the SARS-CoV-2 virus.

The senior team is currently implementing all necessary measures aimed at ensuring the safety of the entire squad and coaching staff.

Moving forward, players must show negative test results for the SARS-CoV-2 virus in order to return to practice as normal.

The Vietnamese team has 23 footballers participating in a training camp in Spain. So far, the four players being infected with COVID-19 has had little impact on the team’s preparation for the 2022 AFC Women's Asian Cup.

The Asian tournament is set to take place between January 20 and February 6 in India. Vietnam have been drawn in Group C and the national women footballers will play the Republic of Korea on January 21, Japan on January 24, and Myanmar on January 27.
