Forty young footballers called up to Vietnamese U17 team

VOV.VN - Philippe Troussier, head coach of the Vietnam U19 national football team, has named a squad of forty U17 footballers to take part in a training camp in preparation for upcoming international tournaments.

The squad will undergo a series of training sessions from October 2 to October 11 which will take place at the Promotion Fund for Vietnamese Football Talent (PVF) Football Training Centre in the northern province of Hung Yen.

The training camp is being held for the purpose of selecting a number of outstanding performers who can make the step up and play for the national U19 side and higher age groups in the future.

Among the squad, Hoang Anh Gia Lai (HAGL) FC has the largest number of representatives with 11 of their footballers being called up, including one goalkeeper, four defenders, four midfielders, and two strikers.

Furthermore, Song Lam Nghe An (SLNA) FC, the current champions of the Vietnamese National U17 Football Championship, have only four footballers named among the squad. The competition’s runner-up, Nutifood Academy, have two players in the squad. 

Three notable footballers from the National U17 Football Championship, including the best player Nguyen Van Bach, the best goalkeeper Nguyen Canh Tiep, both of Song Lam Nghe An (SLNA) FC, and top goal scorer Duong Trung Quang Hieu from Nutifood Academy, have not been named among the list.
