Australia’s Evans will race with nearly 1,000 other cyclists, including 125 foreign racers from 24 countries such as Javier Sardá of Spain and Chris Butler of the US, the event’s organising board has announced.
On September 21, cyclists will start from Phu Van Lau Park in Hue city to conquer Bach Ma Peak in a 15km stage.
The next day, they will compete in two events: Gran Fondo (150km) and Half Fondo (70km).
The event is being held for the second time this year.
It aims to raise the awareness of cycling as a sport in Vietnam and to promote tourism in Hue city.
Constructed to be Vietnam’s toughest road race event, the race boasts more than 3,100m of climbs throughout the two-day weekend.
This event is supported by the Vietnam Cycling Federation and is the first Union Cycliste Internationale (UCI) registered Gran Fondo Sportive event in Vietnam in 2019 on their 'Cycling for All Calendar' and one of a limited number on the list in Southeast Asia./
