Football: U17 women team gain advantage from Bahrain withdrawal
VOV.VN - The Vietnam U17 women’s football team will have a better chance to make the second qualifying round of the 2024 AFC U17 Women's Asian Cup following Bahrain’s decision to withdraw from the tournament.
In the first round of matches Vietnam were drawn in Group C alongside Bahrain, Palestine, and Uzbekistan. However, with the Bahraini decision to withdraw from qualifiers, each team in the group will only have to play two opponents.
With the advantage of playing matches at home, the Vietnamese women’s team are expected to win games at the tournament to progress to the next stage.
The first round of the 2024 AFC U17 Women's Asian Cup is scheduled to be played between April 22 and 30, whilst the second round is slated for September 16 to 24.
Vietnam are due to play Palestine and Uzbekistan on April 22 and April 26, respectively at the Vietnam Youth Football Training Center.
