Five Vietnamese shuttlers to compete at Badminton Asia Junior Championships

VOV.VN - Vietnam has sent five of its most promising young badminton players to Japan to compete at the YATSUSHIRO Badminton Asia Junior Championships 2026 scheduled to take place from July 1 to 5.

The Vietnamese squad comprises Pham Thi Truc An, Nguyen Thi Thu Huyen, Nguyen Tat Duy Loi, Nguyen Dinh Dat, and Lo Trieu Huy.

The team has arrived in Japan and begun training ahead of the tournament. This year's championships feature both team and individual events, although Vietnam will compete only in the individual competitions.

Nguyen Thi Thu Huyen who won a silver medal at the Badminton Asia U17 & U15 Junior Championships 2024 is the greatest hope for Vietnam’s badminton at the Asian tournament.

In the women's singles, Huyen will face Cheok Ian Ung (Macau, China), while her teammate Pham Thi Truc An will compete against Song Yeon Lee (Republic of Korea) in the first round.

The opening matches of the men's singles will see fixtures between Nguyen Tat Duy Loi and Arnur Tapishev (Kazakhstan), Lo Trieu Huy and Wei Jie Tiew (Malaysia), Nguyen Dinh Dat and Osuke Miyazaki (Japan).

In addition, Vietnamese shuttlers will compete in the mixed doubles with the pairings of Duy Loi/Thu Huyen and Trieu Huy/Truc An, the men's doubles with Duy Loi/Dinh Dat, and the women's doubles with Truc An/Thu Huyen.
