Female Vietnamese footballers beat RoK hosts in friendly game

VOV.VN - Female Vietnamese footballers secured a 3-2 surprising win over their Republic of Korean opponents in a friendly game on April 12.

Hosts flexed their muscle by presurising their visitors on their own turf and scoring a goal before Thai Thi Thao earned an equalizer for Vietnam in the first half.

RoK women continued to take control the game, but it was Vietnamese women who made history in the second half.

Coach Mai Duc Chung made several substitutions and changed the tactic that proved effective. Capital Huynh Nhu and striker Hai Yen scored one each, extending Vietnam’s lead.

Several minutes before the last whistle, RoK players applied the pressing tactic and scored another goal.

This is Vietnamese women’s first win over their RoK opponents since 2010.

In another friendly match on April 9, hosts RoK stunned their Vietnamese visitors 3-0.

The Vietnamese players who are training in the Republic of Korea ahead of the coming 31st Southeast Asian games (SEA Games 31) are scheduled to have two more friendlies with opponents from Uiduk University and Gyeongju KHNP club.

Vietnam will play host to the SEA Games 31 in May.
