Disabled swimmer wins nation’s first gold at ASEAN Para Games 11

VOV.VN - Vietnamese swimmer Vo Huynh Anh Khoa won the country’s first gold medal at the ongoing ASEAN Para Games (APG) 2022 which are being held in Indonesia.

This comes after Khoa finished his race with a time of five minutes and 29.35 seconds in the men’s 400m freestyle S8 event on August 1, thereby securing the gold medal.

The same day is also set to see other athletes from the Vietnamese swimming team compete in the events of women’s 400m freestyle, the men’s and women’s 100m breaststroke, the men’s and women’s 50m backstroke, the 4x100m freestyle relay, and the 4x100m medley relay.

Elsewhere, the country’s weightlifting team, including Dang Thi Linh Phuong, Chau Hoang Tuyet Loan, and Nguyen Thi Thanh Thuy, are scheduled to compete in the 50kg, 55 kg, and 61 kg categories on August 1.

This year, the nation has sent a total of 154 members, including 120 athletes who are competing for medals in eight sports, namely athletics, swimming, weightlifting, badminton, table tennis, chess, judo, and archery.
