Cycling tournament set to celebrate Vietnamese National Day

VOV.VN - The fifth version of a cycling tournament run by Vietnam Television (VTV), the Ton Hoa Sen Cup 2020, will kick off on Vietnamese National Day which falls on September 2, with the participation of 80 cyclists nationwide.

Cyclists from a total of 10 crews are set to tour through nine different stages between Hanoi and Binh Dinh province, with a combined length of 1,200km.

The tournament is about to begin around Hoan Kiem (Returned Sword) Lake in the Vietnamese capital on September 2, before concluding in Quy Nhon city of Binh Dinh province on September 10.

On offer in the competition is over VND1 billion which will be granted to the best cyclists, of which the overall winner will claim the yellow jersey and pocket VND160 million in prize money.

The event will be jointly organised by VTV, Hoa Sen Group, the Vietnam Bicycle Federation, and the General Department of Sports and Physical Training with the aim of discovering new talent to represent the country in the 31st Southeast Asian (SEA) Games which will be held in Vietnam in 2021.
