Another gold for Vietnam at 2026 Southeast Asian Shooting Championships

On June 7 in Chinese Taipei, Vietnamese shooters competed in several key events of the tournament.

Vietnam secured gold in the men's youth team 10m air rifle competition as Nguyen Tam Quang, Tran An Tin and Nguyen Minh Quang combined for a total score of 1,869.4 points. The result earned the team the gold medal and set a new youth record at the Southeast Asian Championships.

The three shooters later competed in the men's individual final. Tran An Tin claimed silver with 250.2 points, while Nguyen Tam Quang finished fifth and Nguyen Minh Quang placed eighth.

Also on June 7, Phung Viet Dung, Nguyen Hoang Long and Nguyen Thanh Nam represented Vietnam in the men's 10m air rifle event. Phung Viet Dung scored 625.3 points in qualification to finish third and advance to the final.

In the men's individual 10m air rifle final, Phung Viet Dung maintained strong form to reach the final series. He eventually finished second behind Gustafian Fathur of Indonesia. The Indonesian shooter took gold with 253.7 points, while Phung Viet Dung earned silver with 248.7 points.

In the team event, Vietnam placed third with 1,856.2 points to claim bronze. Singapore took gold with 1,874.8 points and set a new Southeast Asian record.

The 2026 Southeast Asian Shooting Championships will conclude on June 12.
