AFC hails Van Thanh’s performance in clash against Sydney FC
VOV.VN - Vietnamese defender Vu Van Thanh of HAGL FC has been selected in the AFC Champions League’s Team of the Round thanks to his outstanding performance in his side’s recent match against Sydney FC.
The match took place in Group H and was held in Ho Chi Minh City on April 19, with Van Thanh scoring a goal for HAGL FC in the 26th minute through a strike from distance. Despite taking the lead, Buhagiar of Sydney FC levelled the scoring 14 minutes into the second half.
However, the draw gives HAGL FC their first point of the 2022 campaign, while Sydney have now drawn both of their games after also sharing points with Jeonbuk Hyundai Motors in their opening clash of the group stage.
Van Thanh was also voted by the tournament’s organising board and several football websites as “best player of the match”.
Furthermore, the Vietnam Football Federation (VFF) presented VND200 million to the club due to their good result. Moving forward, HAGL FC will play away to Korean side Jeonbuk Motors on April 22 before playing them at home on April 25.
