A very tough time for Park Hang-seo as national teams have busy schedule
VOV.VN - Coach Park Hang-seo is likely to experience the toughest time in his career in Vietnam as three national football teams, including U23 and U22, will have an extremely hectic schedule until early next year due to their involvement in various international tournaments.
September will see the national team begin their participation in the third round of qualifiers in the Asian region for the 2022 FIFA World Cup. Vietnam have been seeded in Pot 6 alongside Lebanon by the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) ahead of the draw for the tournament on July 1.
The national U23 squad will participate in AFC U23 Championship qualifiers in October. They were runners-up at the 2018 competition, and were knocked out in the group stage at the 2020 tournament.
Meanwhile, Park will also coach the national U22 team at the upcoming 31st Southeast Asian (SEA) Games in Vietnam later this year unless the largest regional sporting event is postponed due to the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic.
A hard task lies ahead for the Korean expert who must guide Vietnam to defend their championship title won at the 30th SEA Games in the Philippines in 2019.
One of the most important events will be Vietnam’s participation in the ASEAN Football Confederation (AFF) Cup 2020 between late 2021 and early 2022. Vietnam won the tournament in 2018.
The busy schedule would certainly cause a headache for Park and his aids in the coming time.
